The story behind Dirt Bike Bitch UK Ltd
The company was established in 2008 by John Thompson and Sheena Baker. John and Sheena are the company directors with John taking responsibility for training and Sheena taking responsibility for the promotional work. The company sells a range of motocross ladies wear from beanies to racewear and is heavily involved with the promotion of women's MX.
The story of the brand really begins in 2006. John and Sheena were introduced by a mutual friend who thought that they were alike; both shared a passion for life. How right was she!! Sheena soon started going to watch the ageing racer (John 'I don't know what it is I just can't give it up' Thompson) every Sunday at moto-x meetings.
Sheena made a lot of friends on the track and in the paddock, particularly amongst the girls who raced. One day, someone said to John "is that your missus?" Big mistake! That was the last thing that Sheena wanted to be called. The ever tactful John, knowing that, cleared things up ... "she's my Dirt Bike Bitch, every motocrosser has one don't they?!"
Sheena took a shine to her new title and it stuck. Sheena's second passion is clothing and the idea of using her track nickname as the title of a range of women's motocross wear was born almost two years later. But the idea did not stop there, the vision for Dirt Bike Bitch UK is more than a brand, it is also about the development of women riders in the sport - already they sponsor the Ladies British Motocross Championships and two up and coming women mx riders - Lia Turton and Alex Brace.
So what you have here is a company run by two people who are mad about the sport of moto-x, intent on giving back to the sport that has alrerady given them so much. They are giving all they have to give lady riders an identity so come with us to see for yourselves and to put women's motocross firmly on the sporting map. Oh, and enjoy the ride!!
